3 Easy Steps to Sign a Child up for 4-H Camp

Camper Registration will go live on March 19, 2024, at 6:00 PM

    1. Fill out the 4-H Camp Registration Form.

WAIT for a confirmation email that lets you know we have an open camper spot to offer you.

    2. Once you have received your confirmation email, you need to pay for camp. You may select to pay via credit card, mail in a check, or drop off a check/cash to the Frederick County Extension Office.  You must pay the $315 total camp fee to hold your camp spot.  You may request a financial scholarship, but the $50 deposit is still required. More information about those options can be found on the Payment Page.

     3. Once you have paid for camp, you will need to enroll your child in 4-H Online.  Please provide as much information as possible in the "Health Section", we will use this during camp. Note: even though camp is not a club, it will be listed in the enrollment system as a club. For those 4-Hers already enrolled in 4-H Online, 4-H Extension Agents can help to add the 4-H Camp unit to your existing enrollment.

Who Can Attend?

4-H Camp is co-ed and open to all youth ages 9-13 (camper age as of 9/30/2024). Registration will open on March 2024. Campers are encouraged to request roommates, so bring a friend!

Teen Counselors are youth ages 14-18 who are selected and trained to assist with camp.  If you are interested in this leadership opportunity, please contact your county office.

How much does 4-H Camp cost?

This year the camp fee is $315 and includes meals and lodging for five days and four nights, a camp t-shirt, and class supplies. Accommodations can be made if unable to pay in full.  Please contact 4-H Agent, Spring Vasey, directly if a payment plan is needed. The camp fee can be paid by check or credit card and more information about those options can be found on the Payment Page. We also offer scholarships for those with financial need.

What do campers do at 4-H Camp?

Every morning at camp, campers will rotate through camp classes. More information about class tracks offered can be found on the Classes Page. Classes include options such as canoeing, tie-dye, linedancing, ropes courses, archery, campfire cooking, and more!

There is free swim and recreation time each day, as well as evening programs and a nightly campfire. Evening programs typically include a talent show, a pool party, a carnival style game night, and a dance/recreation night.

Each room will be a part of a "pack" which serves as the camper’s “family” during the week of camp. Packs will rotate through camp activities together and are involved in different contests on various days. Bear Claws are awarded for spirit, participation, and demonstrations of good character!

National Accreditation

Virginia’s 4-H camping program is recognized throughout the nation as a leader in 4-H camping programs. Each of the six Virginia 4-H Educational Centers has achieved and maintains American Camp Association (ACA) accreditation.

Parents and guardians should always look for the ACA seal when selecting a camp for their child to attend. Only about 25 percent of all camps in the nation are accredited by the ACA, the recognized camp accreditation organization in the United States. Having ACA accreditation means that the camp meets the highest standards for safety, food service and staffing, health care, and program quality.

Each 4-H Educational Center maintains these standards annually. Additionally, all 300 standards are reviewed every three years for reaccreditation. Each 4-H center program staff person, as well as the adult and teen 4-H volunteers who participate in camp, are carefully selected and trained prior to the camping event.
