4-H MINI GRANT APPLICATION
DEADLINE TO APPLY: NOVEMBER 30
The Frederick County 4-H Program, with funding from the John Thwaite Memorial 4-H Endowment, provides the opportunity to offer 4-H Mini Grants to Frederick County 4-H Members. The mission of the Frederick County 4-H Mini Grant Project is to enhance 4-H programming and have members develop life skills such as project management, leadership, and teamwork.
4-H MINI GRANT TIMELINE
- September 10: Grant applications available online.
- November 30: Grant application due to the Frederick County Extension office at 107 North Kent Street, Winchester VA 22601.
- December 2024: Applicants notified for presensentation.
- January 2025: Grant recipients announced.
- February 2025: Grant acceptance form deadline.
4-H MINI GRANT APPLICATION PROCESS
A completed grant application (attached) must be submitted. Applicants will be informed of the scheduled time to deliver a five-to-ten-minute presentation explaining their application to the Grant Committee. Applicants will be notified of the grant committee’s decision by email and phone within a week of their presentation. Upon completion of the project, a presentation or poster board must be presented at the 4-H Volunteers & Leaders Association Meeting the following September, unless an extension is requested.
The purpose of these mini grants are to enhance 4-H programming in Frederick County, Virginia and have members develop valuable life skills such as leadership, project management, teamwork, and public speaking. The process of applying for and executing a grant project provides practical experience in planning, budgeting, and presenting ideas, which are essential skills for future academic and career success. The project must be challenging enough to test the 4-H'ers leadership and orgainizational skills but achievable with the resources and volunteers available.
